Obituary of Lotty Zambrano

September 7, 2026

Lotty was born on November 25, 1949, in Babahoyo, Ecuador. She spent her childhood on the historic Hacienda La Clementina, where her family held deep, generational connections dating back to the estate's early days at the turn of the century. She often shared vivid memories of the sheer expanse of the estate, growing up surrounded by sprawling fields during the height of the historic Ecuadorian Banana Boom.

In the late seventies, Lotty immigrated to New York City, ultimately making her home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. There, she raised her two beloved children, Evelyn and Hugo, instilling in them the values of love, dedication, and resilience.

A deeply creative and nurturing soul, Lotty found beauty in everything around her. Her free time was devoted to artistic projects and tending to her cherished collection of plants. There was truly no craft she could not master, and she brought extraordinary passion and care to everything she created- finding particular joy in knitting, quilling, painting, and jewelry making. Her handmade pieces remain cherished treasures to all who received them.

For many years, Lotty served as a dedicated head start teacher, where she gave her heart to supporting and nurturing children within her community. Her energy and kindness left a lasting impression on generations of families and colleagues alike.

Lotty’s memory will be forever cherished by her children, Evelyn and Hugo; her grandchildren, Richard, Kayla, Leo, Hart, and Emma; and her great-granddaughter, Serenity. She also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family in Ecuador, friends, and community members whose lives were enriched by her presence.
