In order to appreciate the value of services our funeral home provides, it is useful to distinguish between the two most prominent types: funeral services, and in this case, memorial services.

We offer various options depending on the requests and needs of a decedent’s survivors.  While many people use the phrases “funeral service” and “memorial service” interchangeably, they are actually very different options.

A “funeral service” is any formal or informal ceremony that takes place in the presence of casketed remains.  In other words, the decedent (inside a casket) is present during the ceremony.  The casket may be open or closed.

A “memorial service” is any formal or informal ceremony that takes place without the casketed remains being present.  For example, the ceremony might take place with just an urn containing cremated remains (or “ashes”) serving as the focal point of the ceremony.

Alternatively, the focal point could be merely significant artwork, photography of (or produced by) the deceased displayed on an easel or table, or floral designs (to represent love, warmth and beauty).   Thirty-minute, one or two hour memorials with meaningful words spoken by clergy, family and friends, reading of poetry and short stories, and instrumental / vocal selections all contribute to a personalized service.

Personalization of Services…

Upon your request, our funeral home offers live webcasting of your memorial service, as well as, large screen televisions for purposes of video tributes.  Memorial cards personalized with photos, symbols and text, assortment of acknowledgement cards, register / guest books, video-recording, Sirius XM Radio, ipod connections and CD players are all available and utilized in our facility.   Many times our clientele combine these options and create a dignified atmosphere for the grieving process to commence.

Whether formal or informal, each individual’s life can be honored in so  many ways.  Our experienced staff have assisted and helped create hundreds of beautiful and meaningful Memorial Services. Through Music, poetry, or art can all be incorporated into tailoring a most memorable period at our funeral home.  Additionally, clergy, family and friends can offer their participation in collaborating a special gathering, as well.
