Obituary of Gregory W. Cornelissen

December 19, 2025

Gregory W. Cornelissen, 33

It is with a heart full of love and sorrow that I share that my beloved husband, Gregory W. Cornelissen, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Though his time with us was far too short, his life was overflowing with love, laughter, adventure, and promise. Greg was my husband, my partner, my joy. He was also the cherished son of David and Carol Cornelissen, and dear brother of Chris Cornelissen. Greg’s warmth, humor, and joyful spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving a light that will never fade.

Born on January 14, 1992, in Bromsgrove, England, Greg grew up surrounded by family and friends who nurtured his curiosity and kindness. He attended South Bromsgrove High School and the University of Manchester, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2013. He began his career at JP Morgan as an intern in London in 2012 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming an Analyst in 2013, an Associate in 2016, and moved to New York later that year. Over the following nine years, Greg was a dedicated member of the Interest Rate Middle Office, holding several leadership roles and ultimately serving as Vice President, with a promotion to Executive Director planned for January 2026.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Greg was a man of boundless energy, enthusiasm, and love for life. He loved cycling, rugby, football, American football, cricket, swimming, and golf. He cherished traveling, hiking with his wife, connecting with people, and sharing his love of life with all those around him. Greg had a rare gift for making everyone feel seen, valued, and cared for — his laughter was infectious, his encouragement unwavering, and his presence unforgettable.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Sheena Villanueva, his parents, David and Carol Cornelissen, his brother, Chris Cornelissen; and countless family members and friends whose lives he brightened and who will miss him deeply.

A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Crestwood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Sheena warmly welcomes contributions to Greg’s GoFundMe to help support her during this difficult time. Your generosity will provide assistance with funeral arrangements, legal matters, and immediate living expenses, and your love and kindness mean more than words can express.

Greg brought joy, laughter, positivity, and genuine care to everyone around him. Though his time with us was far too brief, his vibrant spirit, endless love, and the precious memories he leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him — and most especially in mine.

I worked with Greg over the last more than 5 years, however, over that time period I saw him as a friend. Being a software engineer, and Greg being in middle office, he always ensured his team join our weekly catchup to suggest product features, enhancements and report various issues. His expertise on the business flows and proactive planning were invaluable in making the risk and PnL management systems continuously better. He has been a tremendous business partner and a friend and I've learned an awful lot from him not only about the business processes but also shared great times at the pub on social gatherings after work. I'm so sorry for your loss, to Greg's family, my deepest condolences. Rest in peace Greg, I will miss you forever. Petar Yordanov.
