Obituary of Lenore Weber
September 9, 2025
Lenore Weber, daughter of Mary (Siegel) and Julius Weber always had a keen appreciation for beauty, in its many guises. As a teenager she discovered Native American turquoise jewelry, and so began a lifelong passion collecting Native American jewelry, art and postcards. In mid-life she left her career as a photographer and photo editor in the publishing field and attended Yeshiva University to complete her Master’s degree in Social Work. Lenore specialized in working with people living with chronic illness. Her practice was informed by her own experiences of illness.
Lenore was a traveler and a lover of the visual arts, sculpture and classical ballet. Throughout her life she was a generous patron of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and frequent visitor there and at the Smithsonian, the Asia Society and the Jewish Museum. Additionally she was a long term volunteer at the first two institutions.
Lenore lived near Gracie Mansion for many years and derived tremendous pleasure in exploring Carl Shurz park. She loved walking along the East river and enjoying the seasonal arrival of birds, butterflies and plantings. In June Lenore took great delight in meeting the newest members of the family- her great grand niece and nephew.
Lenore was predeceased by her older brother Bob and her younger sister Margaret. She is survived by her youngest sister Nancy, niece Zoe, nephews Marc and Eric and their spouses, their children and grandchildren and her sister-in-law Judy. May her memory be a blessing.
