Obituary of Dave A. Schwartz

Dave A. Schwartz, a native and resident of Manhattan, died March 9, 2024.
He was born October 13, 1952 to the late Norman and Bethrita Schwartz (nee Schultz), growing up and living his entire life in Stuyvesant Town, NYC.
In his 71 years, Dave had many careers and interests, working early in life as a New York City police officer, before becoming a co-owner of ENG Services, a company that provided video service of breaking news and other events to the local New York television stations as well as all of the nation’s major networks.
He later obtained his 100 ton Captain’s License and skippered several different boats in the New York City area. For a time he worked on supply tenders for oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. Dave was also a certified Dive Master. He worked security details at the USS Intrepid Museum and for several security companies.
Dave’s mother passed away in 1983. His father, Norman, then met and married Helene Kessler, giving Dave a large family of brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. His father and his mom, Helene, who loved him as her own, have preceded him in death. He is survived by brothers and sisters Bruce Kessler, John & Rona Kessler Fitzgerald, Mark and Staci Kessler and 9 nieces and nephews. His passing left behind his best buddy, Boomer, his two year old German Shepherd, who continues to look for him in the faces of passersby.
Dave’s other great love was the ocean, where his ashes will be scattered.
Dave leaves behind a great many friends and loves from a life well lived. He will be missed by all.
