Obituary of Minnie Clark
January 3, 2023
Minnie Minton Clark was born on August 30, 1925, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Having lived for so many years, you can only imagine the stories that I could tell you. But, I would have to write a book.
As a young girl, she liked helping her mom prepare meals. She was the oldest so helping her mom was more of a treat than a chore since she got to sample all of the desserts.
She recalled riding to the lumbar yard with her dad. Once he let her try driving for a few seconds - as long as she did not hit anything nor tell her mom (smile).
Her later years would take her to West Virginia State University. While attending classes, she also got a job working in a doctor's office. My mom always liked helping people, even if you just needed someone to talk to.
After graduation, she had an opportunity to come to New York. Eventually, she would end up working for the New York City Board of Education.
Mom lived a full life, a good life, and a busy life. In February 2007, mom had a stroke and was in a coma for three days. She did survive with God's help. I told God that I would stay by mom's side and take care of her if He would allow her to stay with me a little longer.
The stroke had left her completely paralyzed on the left side. Before taking ill, mom had once stated that marrying Charles Clark was a wise decision. They enjoyed being together. People who knew them remembered how if you saw one you saw the other. They were always together.
Minnie Minton Clark passed on January 3, 2023, at the age of 97 - peacefully in bed as I (her daughter Patricia) held her hand.
Jesus had answered my prayers and I had kept my promise to Him.
"God Bless You, Mom!"
