Obituary of Richard Anthony Taddonio III

June 21, 2022

TADDONIO, Richard Anthony Taddonio III, 35 years old, of New York City passed away unexpectedly at home on June 21, 2022.

Richard was born on October 15, 1986, to Richard and Kathleen (Gerard) Taddonio Jr., and lived in Lloyd Harbor, NY until he was 12 years old when his family relocated to Charlotte, NC. He graduated cum laude from Charlotte Latin School in 2004, where he was a member of the Hawks wrestling team and the Service Club. Richard was also an Outward Bound alumnus and an active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church.

He continued his education at Columbia University in New York City, where he earned a BA in Economics in 2008. Richard served as an RA, campus tour guide, and was a member of the Jiu-Jitsu team and Columbia Catholic Undergrads. After working and teaching finance for several years, he earned his MBA from Columbia Business School in 2015. While in business school, he worked as a teaching assistant and was selected for the highly competitive Value Investing Program.

Richard worked in the financial industry as a credit research analyst. He thrived in the fast-paced environment where he looked forward to constant intellectual challenges. He loved reading, traveling near and far, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his adoring parents, Richard and Kathleen, his loving sisters, Kelly Ann and Heather, his beloved grandmother, Alice J. (Noble) Gerard, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and his sweet, sneaky cat, Stella. He has joined his grandparents, Richard and Josephine (Fiore) Taddonio, and David E. Gerard in Heaven. Richard will always be remembered for the joy he brought to our lives, and we are comforted knowing he is in God’s loving arms. His fierce loyalty to those he loved, clever sense of humor, infectious smile, and voracious appetite for knowledge left an indelible mark on all who were lucky enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.

A private memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC in July 2022. If desired, contributions may be made in Richard’s memory to the charity of your choice.
