Obituary of Judith Lintz
June 9, 2022
Judith Lintz passed away peacefully at the Dawn Greene Hospice at Mary Manning Walsh in Manhattan on Thursday, June 9, 2022. She was a lifelong opera, classical music and ballet fan, which was a source of great joy that she shared with Alan, her husband of 58 years.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Judith briefly studied at Seton Hall University before working at the original Roosevelt Hospital on the Upper West Side in New York City. After marrying and moving to Long Island where she raised two daughters, Judith worked at Long Island University’s art gallery while earning an English degree, achieving straight As in all her subjects and recognized with academic awards. A new life beckoned in Manhattan, where she and Alan moved back to in 1990.
Judith then held a prestigious position at the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, where she supported artists in gaining grants to help them pursue their dreams. In her spare time, Judith was an avid reader and devoured the canons of English, Italian, Spanish and of course, American literature. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to those who survive her: husband Alan, daughters Lauren and Valerie, her grandchildren Melissa, Madeline, Alexander, Ursula and Darcey, and great grandson Ignacy. Her memory will live on in the next generation who are inspired by this smart, formidable lady.
The memorial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation in memory of Judith to the Metropolitan Opera HD Live in Schools program, which brings opera and classical music to primarily underprivileged public school districts in New York City and 56 school districts across 42 states. The link to donate is here.
