Obituary of Roger Stephan
July 12, 2019
Roger Jean Stephan was born on December 27th, 1929 in Ty Ru, Scaer, France to Marie-Anne Le Bourhis and Jules Stephan. Roger was a loving, hardworking, and generous man all his life. As a teenager, he was already a sought out baker in his village and an exceptional hunter, providing food for his family and his neighbors. At 23, he came to New York City to fully utilize his skills and strong work ethics by working his way up in the restaurant industry, leading to opening his very own French restaurant, "Mon Paris", at 111 East 29th Street.
After almost three decades of success and 14-hour workdays, at 62 years old, Roger closed "Mon Paris". However, as he is not someone to sit around, he found a "9 to 5" job as a concierge at Trump Tower. At the end of his 5-year tenure at Trump Tower, even though he was told he was too young and vibrant, he decided to retire. In addition to work, Roger very much enjoyed playing boules and petanque with his friends in Central Park, Bryant Park, and Scaer, speaking his native language of Breton, watching soccer and tennis matches, and serving as a devoted brother of the Masonic Lodge of New York City.
He was a devoted and loving husband to Doris Murray. Unfortunately, fate had parted them ten years ago and Roger, widowed for several years, desired to live out the rest of his life back home in Scaer, France. Sadly, this wish could not be fulfilled as he suddenly became very ill and passed away on July 12th with family and a very close friend by his side. He will be put to rest in Scaer beside his Mother as he wished.
Roger is survived by his son, Remi Stephan, and his daughter, Jacqueline Stephan Vergez, and his four grandchildren, Julien Vergez, Claudine Vergez, Kaitlin Stephan, and Sara Stephan. Roger is very much loved and respected by many, and will be sorrowfully missed. Roger will remain in his family and friends' hearts as he watches over them.

I cannot believe it, it was so good.
It gives me a lot of sadness, i appreciated him very much.
that GOD receives him in his Kingdom.
I appreciated him so much, it saddens me to know that he is no longer there.

Roger is very funny, thoutful and sweet gentlemen. When we were with him, he always makes us laugh. He is also very warm-hearted and caring. Every time when we visited him at his home, he always made sure that my grand-marnier glass was full and i have enough cookies to eat. Also because of Roger, I encountered my life mate. I am forever grateful for that. We will dearly miss you, Roger!
