Obituary of Mr. Sang T. Chung

Thomas Sangto Chung was born to Korean parents while living in Osaka, Japan in the year 1936.


Son of Jeom Dol Chung and Bok Soon Jeon.

Brother to Sang Hee, Sang Ku, Sang Ki, Woo Ja, and Jong Sun.

As the eldest son, Thomas adopted the role of Family Head from his father.


For 25+ years Thomas founded and managed John's Bicycle in Staten Island, NY. Unbeknownst to most of his customers, the 'John' in "John's Bicycle" referred to his firstborn son. Thomas thereafter adopted the nickname of 'John.'


As a devout Catholic, Thomas stayed highly involved in church activities at Holy Child RC in Staten Island, NY. He took pride in serving as a Eucharistic Minister regularly and was given the honor of presenting saintly relics to Cardinal John O'Connor during the dedication of the sacristies' new altar.


After migrating to the borough of Manhattan, Thomas continued to serve his community. Always with a positive attitude, always with a solid work ethic, and always with integrity.


An adopted son of New York, Thomas resided in Manhattan, New York at the time of passing.


Thomas is survived by his wife, Theresa; their three sons, John, Christopher, and Brian; Brian's wife, Mina; and their 2 children, Joseph and William.
