Obituary of Ms. Dorothea J Mallay Bentley

In loving memory of Dorothea "Dottie" J Mallay Bentley. Dottie was born August 17, 1937, to Helen and Lester Mallay in Morris County, New Jersey. Dottie was one of five children: Daniel, Dorothea, Eileen, Donald, and Elizebeth, and is survived by 4 of her 5 children: Helen, Mark, Patrica, and Susan Bentley. Her eldest son John Bentley passed in 2009 and welcomed his mother home on April 11, 2021. Dottie has 7 grandchildren: Sharon, Steven, Christopher, Michael, Rachel, Danielle, and Cody, and 5 great children.

Dottie was a mother to many in the neighborhood, where she always had space at her dinner table and left an impactful mark on Hell's Kitchen. Dottie was a crusader for tenant rights and was always ready to fight for what is just. She retired as Chief of The Ambassador Theatre in 2014 after being diagnosed with Dementia.

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend will be missed. She has taught us incredible lessons from her patience, strength, and respect. She was selfless her whole life, always putting others first, and was the rock for her family and friends.
