Obituary of James Gallagher

April 15, 2021

James Gallagher passed away at the age of 74 on Thursday, April 15, 2021.

James was born on February 3, 1947, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania to John and Margaret (Brennan) Gallagher. James worked on Broadway as a Local 1 IATSE stagehand for over 50 years.

Jimmy was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his generosity which touched so many. Throughout his life, Jimmy embraced those he loved with passion and gratitude. As his daughter Kristin said so poignantly, "Jimmy laughed hard and loved hard, so it is only fitting that letting go will be hard. His love was a special gift, and I will cherish that forever." He confronted adversity with resilience and optimism. When he was a young man, Jimmy discovered "his bliss" on the island of Jamaica, and he visited this earthly paradise year after year. He returned home from his final trip to Jamaica just a week before his death.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his daughter Kristin Nicholas, son-in-law James Nicholas, his grandson Connor, as well as his two sisters Sr. Carol RSM and Kathleen Gallagher.

Worked with Jim at Cbs Morning show and enjoyed many laughs there. I always remember him talking about his daughter, she was a big joy in his life and he was always so proud of her.Eternal rest Jimmy.

From the first day you walked into the Ovalon Restaurant in Hazleton Pa. I knew you were unique. You helped me get my first Union card from Local 152. Introduced me to working Broadway shows.
I will never forgot our fun times.
Then came our beautiful daughter Kristin, who was your little princess.
My heart is broken. You left us with so many memories which will be a wonderful gift to us.
The best dressed stagehand on Broadway and full of information.
You will forever be in my heart and truly missed.
Love you,
Beverly
