Obituary of Georgios S. Georgiou

January 21, 2022

Georgios S. Georgiou, born in Patras, Greece, November 22,1945, immigrated to New York, December 1964, with his parents Stavros (dec.), Olga (dec.), and sister Gina. He married his agapi, Virginia K Pulos with whom he shared a beautiful life of love, laughter, playfulness, excitement and travel. George was an entertainer, a restaurant and club manager and was a banquet manager in the hotel and banking industry. He retired from JPMorgan Chase where he was the manager of the Partner's Dining Room. In 2013, after 18 years as Manager of the Partners Dining Room, with Jamie Dimon as his boss, they honored him with a farewell party which brought him immense joy. George took pride in everything he did big or small. He loved togetherness most of all and loved life to the fullest. George was committed to his family and their happiness as a top priority.

George's personality was sunny and contagious as he was open to new experiences, culture and adventure with his wife. He saw the humor in all life, which he communicated to all who knew him. He loved children, animals, nature, music, dance and sports.

Although he did not father children of his own, his title of uncle was synonymous with father to his niece Evie and her daughters Nina and Emma who subsequently had a great uncle and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife Virginia (Ginny) Pulos, sisters Gina Georgiou (NY, NY) and Amalia Marketou of Patras Greece, brother-in-law John Grizopoulos, niece Evie Georgiou, great nieces, Nina 14 and Emma 9. He leaves a stepdaughter Kate Elizabeth (Chiemingo) Fernald and Shawn, and three step grandchildren Gryphon 14, Gavin 12 and Riley 9. Nieces and nephews in Patras, Greece Maria Marketou, Nikos, Andreas and Dinos Papadopoulos, Aggeliki Nikolopoulou and Grigoris, Konstantinos and Amalia Marketou.

George was called by God suddenly and too soon, on January 21, 2022, while surrounded by his immediate family until he drew his last breath in peace. It was a gift in itself for him and for us. His loss will forever leave a void in our lives until he embraces us when we reunite in heaven. George will be our guiding angel.
