Obituary of Sue Hing Mar-Wong

Mrs. Sue Hing Mar-Wong (nee MAR) passed away on January 24, 2022. She was born in Guangdong Province, China, in 1923. She married Tuck Wong (pre-deceased) and immigrated to the United States in 1947. She is survived by one son and three daughters, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren - these she regarded as her greatest joys.

(黃達克(Duck Wong)之妻) 廣東省人士,出生於一九二三年, 於二零二二年元月廿四日於家中 逝世,壽終積閏享壽九十九歲。 先妣一九四七年移民來美,加入 紐約市第一長老會教會後並成為 顯利街教會的長老。退休前在本 地工廠工作,養育有四個孩子, 五個孫輩及四個曾孫。

My Mom had an extraordinary green thumb and used to be the go-to person for medicinal herbal soups and recipes in the extended family. Unfortunately the NYC 2022 Omicron COVID Lockdown has robbed her of most of her horticultural delights and a traditional Toyshan send-off.
She would elatedly attend every NYC Orchid Show that she could and recall all the beautiful "real" orchids in Toyshan. She delighted to be in a scent-sational, flourishing environment that only the annual Orchid shows could provide her. In addition to being able to watch or hear how her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow, her flowers, whether it be only a sidewalk tree that needed nurturing or her limited windowsill garden, provided her with joy.
