Obituary of James J. Locker

James J Locker of New York City passed away on July 1, 2021 after a battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his many loved ones who meant the world to him, and he to them.

James was born on July 17, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio. He was predeceased by his loving parents, James and Mary E Locker. He leaves behind his brothers: Dan (Kathy) Locker, Harry (Maureen) Locker and sisters Marybeth Frederick (Dennis Amendola) and Kathleen (Peter) Rusiecki, 8 nieces and nephews, 2 grand nephews, and 1 grandniece, two great aunts, and his loving friends turned family, especially Jackie Nixon and Bob Warman, among countless others. James spent his professional career in the catering industry in NYC working for various prestigious hotels where he was highly esteemed by co-workers and clients alike. James lit up every room as soon as he entered and was always the life of the party. His humor, kindness, and endless generosity was extended to everyone he loved. Friends became family, and family was the most important thing to him. His endless dedication and commitment to others was felt by all and his absence will leave a hole in countless lives. James served as the patriarch of his family for years. He was always willing to lend an ear, offer sage advice, lament, laugh or offer up a toast. With a twinkle in his eye, he could make anyone feel at home. James is a light in all of our lives that can never be extinguished, and his spirit will live on in all who loved him.

A wake will be held on Thursday July 8th from 4:00pm-7:00pm at St. Paul the Apostle 405 W 59th St, NYC, NY 10019. A funeral service will also be held at St. Paul the Apostle on Friday July 9th at 10am. The church entrance is on 59th Street and 9th Avenue.
