Obituary of Josephine Civitella

It was a fabulous life, 100 years of Josephine "Josie" Civitella, the last surviving member of her family. If you knew her, you knew her simply as "Grandma" but she was not simply a Grandma. She was a whole lot of woman, all 5 feet of her, with a whole lot of heart. She was a wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She shared one of the greatest love stories with Louie, he was hers and she was his for 62 years. She had a love for showbiz, supported her children and grandchildren in fulfilling their showbiz dreams; always accompanying them to their auditions and jobs. She and Louie enjoyed visiting movie, tv and Broadway sets. They met many great actors, musicians and athletes. The two of them made many visits to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, they loved playing the poker machines. Somehow they were lucky to come out winners.

As a true New York sports fan, Josie watched every Yankee and Knicks game and for many years went to Yankee Stadium and Madison Square Garden. She was an amazing cook, known for her leg of lamb and stuffed mushrooms. She loved to dance any chance she had and danced at her grandsons wedding two and half years ago at the age of 97. She loved Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire and Ruby Keeler.

She was the best mom anyone could ever have. She is now off dancing with Louie again and is remembered by her children, Lori and Bill. Her grandchildren, Zachary, Christina, Michael, Billy and Brandon. Her bonus grandchildren, Jim, Jessie and Yanette and her great grandchildren, Frankie, Joey, Addison, Ryker and Alivia.
